Missing you

It was six years ago today. I remember it like it was yesterday. God had a plan for me to be there with you. Even though it was the end for you here I know it was only the beginning for you somewhere so much better. It makes me happy to know you're at peace. I will always remember the good times. Playing cards, rootbeer floats, swimming, dance shows, picking blueberries, walks in the woods. And your funny quirks as well. Dating the food, checking the meter, writing in your journal, sitting in the front yard under the tree. The memories will remain with me forever. And I will be sure to pass them on to my children so they will know you as well.

I miss you Grandpa.

Funny girl

Addison and I were on the way home yesterday and she kept saying "mama". So I said back to her "Addison". This went on a couple of times until she finally said "dada my kuhl". You read that correctly. She now calls her daddy Michael. It was cracking me up the whole way home.

Last night she was eating a popsicle on the porch with Caeley from next door. It was getting late and she would not give up her popsicle. Don't blame her though. It was good. Michael took her to the shower and there she sat in the corner finishing it. She was so serious about that popiscle that she wanted to keep the stick when she was done.

Picture overload

The photographer who took Addison's pictures for the ad gave me a cd with some of the other shots. Here are a couple of the good ones. They weren't sure of the theme they were going to go with so there was a lot of different background changes.

These two crack me up. Addison knows exactly where her ears, eyes and nose are and likes to point them out on others too. Here she is saying "eyes". And can she look any more bored? I love how she's checking her nails.

And those big blue eyes. They get me every time.

Sweet face

I love this little girl so much. Everyday is something new. Right now she is addicted to her "strollie" (that's stroller). I picked up this little baby stroller at a yard sale for 50 cents and she wants to push it and take it with her everywhere. This weekend we literally had to put it in the car in order for her to go to the park. And she gets so upset when the wind catches the material and it flies up. She thinks it is broken or something. So something has to be in the seat at all times to keep this from happening.

She used to be such a good eater, but lately she won't eat. Breakfast is the hardest. She takes about three bites and she's done. Bananas used to be her favorite, but now she won't go near them. But she still loves pasta. Sometimes Michael gives her macaroni and cheese for breakfast just so she'll eat. And the other day she thought the squash on her plate was pasta so she devoured it. Her new thing is to "dip". I'll give her ketchup or ranch dressing with her meal and the dipping action usually helps in the eating process. I caught her dipping tortilla chips in ketchup this past weekend. If she likes it that's all that matters.

She loves to jump. Even if her feet never leave the ground. She jumps off the stool, off the curb, off the grass to the driveway. Most of the time it's just a small step, but in her one year old mind it is probably one of the biggest leaps she's ever taken. The smile that forms on her face when she accomplishes those jumps melts my heart every time.

She's very lovey. She'll give you kisses and hugs. She snuggles with her daddy. And when she's thrown a small fit and knows she's done something wrong, she'll come over and give me a kiss and say "sorry". How can you be upset after that. How can you ever be anything but in love with that sweet face
.

Slacking

I haven't been doing so well on taking pictures recently so my post are lacking. My dad was in town this past weekend. It was nice to spend some time with him. I haven't seen him since last October and he hasn't seen Addison since December. As usual, she took a day to warm up to him, but then they were buds. We were getting ready for the big game on Saturday and Addison had just woken up from her nap. She wasn't feeling so great which explains the sad face. This is the only picture I took this weekend. BTW, Dad hates pictures. We love you!

Happy Birthday to Jesse and Allison. I hope you both had great days. We love you both so much and can't wait to see you soon.

And lastly...GO GATORS!!!

Messy

This is how Addison eats her ice cream cone. The ice cream in her hair is because of Michael. He was making his own mess as he ate his.

Check it out

Remember that little photoshoot I mentioned in this post. Well, here's the result. This is our company ad that is going to run in the Wolfson Children's Hospital magazine.

(Click the picture to make it bigger.)

I think it turned out really cute. Addison was such a trooper during the shoot. So much better than she did at her one year photoshoot. It turned out to be a pretty fun day.

Trip continued

Saturday we spent the day on the lake in the pontoon boat that we rented. Addison has never been on a boat before and I was really nervous about her falling in. There were plenty of people though to keep an eye on her. She wore the life jacket about half of the time, especially when we were moving. Here she is when we first left the marina. She loved standing in the front of the boat while the boat was moving.

Angela was the best! She thought of everything. I had lunch covered, but that was it. Angela brought every snack imaginable for Addison, drinks, and even a lunchable. That came in handy at dinner time since I didn't think that far ahead. She even got Addison to take a nap while Michael and I took a ride on the tube. Thanks Angela!

Addison doesn't eat a ton of junk food, but it was vacation. She LOVES Doritos! And I've learned that she will drink "juke" (that's juice) if it has a straw.

We had such a good time. In all, there were 15 of us on the boat. The kids spent a lot of time swimming, tubing and knee boarding and the adults spent a lot of time just hanging out. It's definitely something I look forward to doing again.

Trip to Tennessee

We left Tuesday night and headed out. We drove a couple of hours and then stopped at a hotel. My hope was to move Addison from the car to the bed without her waking up. No chance. She was wide awake and wired! Giggling and laughing. We finally got her to go down around 12:30 am. We decided to break the trip up a little. We headed to Andersonville, GA to visit the Civil War POW camp. We toured the grounds and the museum and then had a picnic.

Friday we went to Mayfield Dairy Farm. They make great ice cream and it's right in Michael's hometown. Walmart is the only place that sells it in FL. We toured the plant and then enjoyed some treats. Yes, we were required to wear the hair nets. And yes, they do have a parking space reserved for the giant cow! Only in TN... :)

Vacation

Michael and I took a full week off last week. It's been awhile since I had a full week off. We had a couple of days at home to get some things done and then we headed to Tennessee on Tuesday night to visit family. It was a fun trip and I have a TON of pictures. There is a lot of stuff going on at work so I'm a little behind on that and my sleep. I hope to have pictures up this weekend.

Just checking

Every night before I go to bed I go into Addison's room, I rub her head, I give her a kiss and tell her I love her. She's always so peaceful. And then sometimes I laugh because I find her like this.

Dinnertime

I just got done putting this little video together and I have to point out a few things. It really isn't that special. It's just dinner, but for some reason I found tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard when I just watched it. The "wee wee" is because she is kicking her legs under the table. And the cheesy smile? Well, I think that says enough. Click to play.

Here's a couple of pictures also. And to think that Addison has a photoshoot next week. I'm starting to get nervous.

Ice cream cone

Michael just sent me this picture taken with his cell phone. I think this is Addison's first official ice cream cone that she's eaten by herself. I think she did pretty good.

Lollipop

Trying to get a 16 month old to sit still while eating a lollipop is almost impossible. She sat in Michael's lap for a few minutes and then we just tried to keep her on the couch. At least the leather is easy to wipe off. I love how she holds the stick as close to the top as she can and how half of her hand is in her mouth.

At the time she was eating we had the weather on to get an update on the approaching storm. She was concentrating so hard on what the Mayor had to say.

She really did enjoy that lollipop.

Trying to stay dry

I think we're all going a little bit crazy being stuck in the house for so long. Last night was the worst. The wind and rain really hit us and I was up half of the night. Not really worried, just couldn't sleep because it was so loud. It seemed like we were going to get a 5 minute break from the rain this morning so I headed out to take Addison for a walk. Right after I got her shoes on it starting pouring. Me, Addison and Caeley (from next door) braved the wind and rain for a few minutes and splashed in the puddles. It was fun until the rain started to hurt. The rest of the morning Addison and I hung out in our fort.

She has been such a trooper. Last night Michael brought dinner home and we had a picnic in the living room. I'm running out of ideas though. I'm ready for Fay to move on. We had a two hour break from the rain this afternoon so I was able to take some pictures. Our pond is the highest I've ever seen it, up probably 4 feet. The pond is usually below the neighbors palm trees and Michael normally has to mow around the Willow tree.

That's what's been going on. So far we've been lucky with the power. It went out this afternoon for about an hour, but that's it. There are about 82,000 people without power right now and I sure am glad I'm not one of them. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Fay

School has been closed for two days now so that has turned our week upside down a little. And in addition to that, I have a virus on my work computer making it harder for me to get things done at work and at home. I'm sitting here at work now, watching the sky get darker, the wind get stronger and the rain slowly start to fall. I'm heading home soon so Michael can go to work this afternoon. The moral of my story? I haven't had much time to download pictures and post, but I will be back at it soon.

Hanging out

Addison's school was closed on Friday so we had some mommy and daughter time. It went a little something like this. (Please excuse the boogers in the second picture.)

About 5 seconds after I put the camera down she decided to toss the glass container of relish on the floor. I then spent the next 20 minutes trying to clean up the glass and keep her out of it at the same time. Wish I would have gotten a picture of that.

And this is what we see everyday. Her latest obsession is Michael's eye drops. She loves to carry them around, chew on them, and pretend to put them in your eyes. They are in every room of our house because Michael is a little obsessed with them also. "Ahy dop, ahy dop", she says. We rarely see her without them.

Loves the water

The cable people dug a huge hole in our yard last week (which Michael wasn't happy about). Michael went out one afternoon to water the repaired grass and I wish I had a picture of Addison's face when she heard the water turn on. She went running towards the hose and couldn't get enough. I think Michael had fun too.

Weekend getaway

Michael's sister and her family were in town for the weekend and were excited to watch Addison while Michael and I had a little time to ourselves. On Friday night we headed to the Inn on Charlotte, a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine. We were there about two years ago and liked it so much that we decided to visit again. Lynn, the owner of the Inn, is such a great hostess and the breakfast is so good.

We both did a lot of shopping at the outlets on Saturday, breaking for massages mid day. That night we went to dinner at Raintree. The food was good and the dessert so yummy. Michael and I had a really good time. We missed Addison so much, but the alone time was much needed. It was really nice to come home Sunday afternoon to a big hug and a kiss from her. She really is the sweetest thing ever.
