It didn't happen

The day and night switch that is. The 7 hour night was just a fluke. I'm sure being away from home has a little bit to do with it. She's still doing 3 to 4 hour shifts and I have no complaints about that. It shouldn't be much longer. This morning Addison was "talking" a lot more. Her sounds have changed and she's much more vocal now. I just love it! I almost caught a smile yesterday. She's so close. I can't wait for that first one. I'm sure it will melt my heart. Here are some pictures taken on our trip so far. I sure do love her lots!!! (Hope you like the pics Allison.)She's more alert and awake during the day now and starting to coo a lot more. And she loves to stick her tongue out.Everyone says that she looks like me. Here I am at roughly 4 months. I still don't know...(EDITED - I guess she does look like me the more I look at this picture.)

6 weeks old

We're in TN right now visiting Michael's family and Addison is doing so good away from home. Actually, she slept for about 7 hours straight last night. She probably would have slept longer, but I had to wake her up. We went to visit some friends and when we got home she was asleep in her car seat. We left her in there thinking she would only sleep for another 30 minutes or so (it was time for a feeding) but, hours later, she was still asleep. We'll see how she does tonight NOT in the car seat. Let's hope that the day and night switch has happen. More sleep for me!!!

Many updates

I feel like so much has happen in a week. On Wednesday the 16th her umbilical cord finally fell off (I think Michael helped it). So on Thursday night we gave her her first "real" bath - one where she could actually get in the water. She loved it! Check out her bath video here (make sure to listen closely).

Addison also had her first bottle this past week. She took to it immediately with no problems. I was so proud of her. She continues to get bigger and stronger everyday, lifting her head more and almost rolling over. I swear that I even saw her smile the other day. It won't be long. This past weekend we headed to my mom's to visit and meet some of the family. She was so good, even sleeping in 4 hours shifts on Saturday night. Addison got to meet her great grandmother. I guess you never lose your motherly instinct. Grandma has Alzheimer's and yet she still knew how to hold her and connect with her. It was a special moment for me. Four generations together. Addison went to the doc yesterday for her one month checkup and first shot. She now weighs 10 lbs, 8.5 oz and is 22 and 3/4 inches long. She has a mild case of baby acne on her face that the doc didn't seem concerned about. The nurse asked me if I was going to be okay when she got her shot and I was sure I would be...until she started crying. It broke my heart and the tears started to fall. She just looked to me to save her. And that was only one shot. Next month she has to get 4 of them. Michael is definitely going with me for that one. One more picture...our first family shot. This was taken after church. Kara is going to take some pics of Addison on the 9th of June. I can't wait.

Happy Mother's Day

...to me! My first Mother's Day and it was a great day. Michael and Addison gave me a nice watch, a CD, and a carrot cake. And, I got to take a long nap with one of my favorite people.Thing are going great! Addison has been sleeping in her room the past 3 nights, but not in her crib. Baby steps. We moved the bassinet in there to start the transition. She did really well sleeping for about 3 hours at a time. Today she has been awake almost all day so maybe she'll sleep better tonight than she did last night. Her days and nights are still switched, but I think she's getting better. My mom and Jim were here this past weekend to visit. They haven't seen her since she was 5 days old. It was fun for them to see how much she has changed. She was so alert and got to play with Grandma. I've uploaded some new pics to yahoo so check them out!http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rikajml2002/album?.dir=b29ere2&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos

We also took some video of her on Sunday. You can go here to check those out. I promise she only cries when she's hungry or in this case, when her parents wake her up to take videos.

20 days: Doc appt

Addison went to see Dr. Cooper today. She is now up to 9 pounds 5 ounces and is 22 inches long. Doc said she is doing great and can tell that she's starting to focus and maybe even smile. She always does so great at the doctor - no crying at all! We also went by my office today and introduced her to everyone. She slept the entire time. I think she's going through her 3 week growth spurt. She's been sleeping a lot during the day and had a really restless night last night, wanting to eat every two hours or so. But, she had a first. I laid her down after eating and of course she woke back up. After about 5 or 10 minutes she fell asleep on her own. I was so proud of her. It didn't last long, but I was happy nonetheless.
This was her today in her bouncer seat.
My dad was here this past weekend to meet Addison for the first time. He held her a lot which allowed me to get a couple of good naps. My brother and his wife also came on Friday night and we went out for our first dinner. She did great! It must be something about the car seat. Our next big challenge is to transition her from her bassinet to the crib. We'll start with naps and see how that goes.
This was after a bath on Sunday. I can't wait until her umbilical cord falls off and we can actually put her in the water. She cries a little when we wash her now, but I think it's because she gets cold. We love her lots!

16 days old

I know this one is on the yahoo link, but it has to be my favorite so far. Just had to attach it so everyone could see.
Things are still going good. She's going through this phase where she doesn't want to sleep when you actually put her down. It takes some time, but eventually she will sleep for a couple of hours without waking up. I just try to nap as much as possible during the day while she's asleep in the swing or the bouncer. She's a great baby though. She rarely cries (unless you are changing her diaper) and she loves to play with her rattle on the floor. I just can't believe how much she is growing already. Check out the link for some updated pics.
