How cute

Dinner last night - mini meatloaf. I decided to start trying some of those nifty little recipes that are in all of those books I've collected. This book is aimed at kids. Perfect size for Addison.

The meatloaf must have filled her up. She was out cold. This is her new position. We've found her like this a couple of times now and it makes me smile.

One year stats

Addison had her one year appt on Monday. She got to stand on the big girl scale and weighed in at 20 lbs even (30th percentile). She was 30 inches long (80th percentile) and is still on the way to being long and lean. They checked her vision - which was great - and tried to check her hearing but she still had a little fluid on her ears. She got two shots while we were there - Prevnar in her leg and the MMR in her arm. I know there's been a lot of talk about the MMR and autism recently, but I decided to get it. I discussed it with the doc who assured me the shot does not have the Mercury and Thermisol which are supposed to be the cause. I'm such a natural worrier as it is that I just couldn't read too much into the studies. I trust our doctor to recommend what's best. Addison did great with both. She only cries for 30 seconds and then she's over it. We go back in 3 months for another checkup.

Here are some randoms pics of Addison's many faces - after dinner, lounging in her rocker and after the photo shoot a couple of weeks ago. She looks so tired and miserable in the last one, but still sweet as can be. Happy Friday!

***New 12 month album added to Shutterfly. Tons of party pics included. I have much more to add so check back.

So lucky

We have the best neighbors. They are super nice and are always letting us borrow stuff. They invited all of the kids from the party over to swim in their fabulous heated pool. They got Addison a great float (seen below) and beach towel for her birthday. And they invited us and our guests over on Sunday to enjoy the pool because they weren't going to be there and didn't want the heated water to be wasted. OK! We're IN! We spent about two hours or so over there swimming. Addison LOVES it! She had a swimsuit on, but we took it off. She seemed more comfortable this way.

They also have 8 finches flying around in there, a Koi fish rock pond, and a waterfall in the pool. It's like a tropical paradise. And since it's heated I don't have to wait until August to get in the water. (I hate cold water). Thanks again to the neighbors. We're so lucky they live next door.

Flower Power party

We threw a little (if you call 35 people or so little) party on Saturday. We had a great time with all of our family and friends. I did a lot of flower decorations around the house and yard and we all had a lot of fun tie dying t-shirts. The weather turned out to be nice and it only sprinkled for a minute or two. As you will see, Addison was a little overwhelmed with all of the people in her space.

The cake. It's supposed to be the highlight of the first birthday party. Well, as I suspected, Addison wanted no part of it. Her stranger anxiety kicked in and she only wanted to be held which is why we ended up in the grass with the cake. This is also the reason why I have more cake on me than she has on her.

She did finally decide to take a bite. Here she is going in head first.

Opening presents. Addison got some great things...toys, books, clothes and some cash. I think the cash was her favorite!

This pretty much sums up the day.

Thanks Shannon for helping me with the final touches and decorations. Thanks Mom for making some of the food. Thanks to all who let me borrow stuff. And thanks to everyone who came to celebrate. It couldn't have been possible without all of you. Looking forward to next year. Well, maybe I'll take a break next year and wait until she's three. :)

Addison's birthday

So much to post. Birthday dinner, big party and doctor's appointment. I'm going to try and go in order.

We had a lot of fun Thursday. Addison particpated in the "Olympics" at her school Thursday morning. Michael and I were able to go and cheer her on in the crawling competition. Most of the kids are 10-12 months in age and when put down to crawl they all looked at each other. It was really funny. The winner was the youngest of the group. Probably 7 months and still only army crawling. Here's a picture from the parade. Her class all had shirts dyed the same color.

That night we went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner with Michael's brother and girlfriend and my friend Shannon. Addison has been really in to corn lately. She can't get enough of it. So for dinner she basically had corn, more corn and pie.

Lastly, a little video of her first piece of pie. (Michael wanted the key lime pie instead of cake.) Addison is not a big fan of sweets, but she did have a taste. Please forgive my singing. My sore throat was still lingering and my voice was still not 100% on Thursday night.

Happy Birthday Addison!

Our sweet little girl turns one today. Before I went to bed last night I went in to kiss Addison one more time. I stood there for a minute watching her sleep. I remembered how we use to watch her sleep when she was first born. I guess some things never change. We love this little girl so much. She really does bring so much love and joy into our lives. We can't wait for all of the years ahead of us and all of the new experiences.

April 17, 2007 - Addison Grace was born.
She spent her first month doing a lot of sleeping to make her big and strong.
First smile during her second month.
The third month she found her fingers.
Addison spent month 4 with a lot of family and friends.
Her jumperoo became her new favorite thing during month 5.
In month 6 she learned to sit up all by herself.
Trick or treating in month 7 was a lot of fun.
She was all about clapping and smiling in month 8.
Addison spent most of month 9 learning to walk with help.
She was seriously into the finger foods by month 10.
In month 11 she mastered the rings and the chillin' pose.
By month 12 she was into EVERYTHING!
Taken today...
Happy Birthday Addison. Mommy and daddy love you!

Why I love April 16th

  • It's been 364 (+1 for leap year) fun days since I met my baby girl.
  • Tax season is officialy OVER! My phone has only rang once today at work (and it was my friend Shannon).
  • I get to turn the car seat around tonight. Now I can actually have a passenger sit in the front seat and their knees won't touch their chin.
  • Today I weigh 103 pounds. Remember last year??? Roughly 150 or so. YIKES!
  • I'm drinking sweet tea. Love it!
  • Did I mention that tax time is over?
My sweet grandmother turned 91 on Monday the 14th. I certainly didn't forget her birthday, but I haven't had much time to blog (see point one and two above). Addison and I were lucky to see her last Wednesday on our quick trip to Gainesville. She may not connect with a lot of things going on around her, but she lights up everytime she sees Addison. We love you Grandma!

This picture of Grandma and my cousin Ryan was taken several years ago, but it is one of my favorites.

Ear infection X 2

Warning to all. Don't come near the Sharp household. We're all sick. My mom and Jim came to town yesterday to watch Addison. She cried, wouldn't eat or play all day. She had a little bit of fluid on her ear when I took her in to the doc last week. Back to the doc we went and now it's two ear infections. That explains the lack of eating because of the pain, the pulling on her ears, the coughing and the overall crankiness (and probably the crying during the pics). She's now on amoxicillin, which she may be resistant to because of daycare, and Motrin. We'll have to wait and see if it helps.

Michael and I are miserable. His head is about to explode because of the pressure and my throat hurts so bad that I can barely talk. And I did wind up getting a small case of Addison's pink eye, but nothing major. Hopefully we'll all feel better soon.

Pictures!!!

I took Addison to get her pictures taken yesterday.
Amy Barry is AMAZING! I thought I did everything right. Addison had a nap, lunch and a bottle on the way, but she still cried most of the time (as seen in some of the pictures). I'm not sure how she did it, but Amy was able to get some really great shots in between. Thank you SO much Amy for your patience. Hopefully Addison will be in a better mood next time.

Check out Amy's website and her blog - www.capturingreallife.com. You can also create an account to order pictures from the gallery. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just because

Michael went in to work late this morning so he was home for Addison's morning nap. He snapped this with his cell phone. Love her way more than she loves those paci's.

For Grandpa

This was my dad's rocking chair when he was little. We brought it out of the closet this weekend to see if Addison would sit in it. She climbed right in. She's played in her chair a couple of times since then and is really getting the hang of it. Press play to see her in action.

Update on the pink eye: The redness has gone away, but she was not a happy camper this past weekend. She had a fever Friday afternoon through Saturday night and just wasn't herself. She wouldn't eat much either. Tonight she spent her entire bath chewing on a dinosaur so I think the teeth may have something to do with it.

Conjunctivitis

That's the fancy medical term for "pink eye". Luckily, it isn't that bad. It's mostly in her left eye and the drops the doc gave us seem to already be working. Oh how she loves the drops. So Addison and I are home today toughing it out. Michael has bad luck with pink eye so he's trying to stay away. I have a bad feeling about me being so close. My pictures may be on here soon.

I don't think she wants anyone to see her like this.

Swimming

It was so nice this past Saturday that I decided to set up the little inflatable pool that we have so Addison could go swimming. She loved it at first, then had a moment where she got mad at me and wanted out, but then climbed right back in. After about an hour and a half I took her out so she wouldn't turn into a prune. It was hard to pick only a couple out of the 20 or so pictures I took. Let's just quickly talk about all of the funny things that happen during the day.

She was a little bored with just the water so I went inside and got some of her bath toys and her blocks. She was lathered up with about 15 layers of sunscreen (can't be too careful) and I tried to keep a hat on her head. She kept taking it off and would suck the water out of it (she does the same thing to wet paper towels and baby wipes also). I tried to take it away and this is why she was mad at me. And why she has a paci in her mouth.

She's really into holding on to things lately. I'm not sure if this is her security object phase or what. What cracks me up is that the object changes. There's no specific "blankie" or "lovey" that she has to have. Today it was a spoon and the sunscreen stick.

Soaking in some rays. Yep, she's still doing the chillin' pose.

A couple without the paci. She's got some serious teething going on so it's sometimes hard to get this thing out of her mouth. Check out those toofs (click on the pic to make it bigger).

I can't wait for some more sunny Saturday's and swimming.
